Hi All, don't have time to read through the whole tamoxi thread (but will later) mum had chemo on Friday, was ok Saturday day and then Saturday night started feeling "strange". Worsened throughout Sunday and then this morning was pretty out of it (like on amphetamine type drugs) with horrendous stomach cramps. She's hardly slept or eaten in 72 hours as a result. She's been given diazepam by out of hours doc to try and calm her (and the stomach cramps) down. Should we be more worried? Stepdad beside himself with worry and i'm worried about them being on own tonight. Is there anyone on a bank holiday we can call?

Your mum should have an out of hours number for chemo side effects ,if she's forgotten it or doesn't have it can you phone the hospital and ask to be put through to whoever deals with out of hours chemo concerns ? From memory they page/bleep someone .

The hyped up /unable to sleep might be steroids or one of the anti - emetics .
Please post on the tamoxifen thread

Thanks gingeroots. They had already tried the chemo unit from what i can make out and they weren't much help - though not sure how coherent and assertive my stepdad would have been given how distressed he was. We managed to get her to take some protein shake and she was much calmer and wanted to sleep so we let her and called the unit again first thing. They def felt she had reacted to something and now after doing some research we are pretty sure it was her anti sickness meds which are Maloxon based. She is almost back to normal and is eating again in small amounts and totally lucid. Was a scary experience. Thanks so much for your feedback. It is really appreciated.

So glad things are a bit better . You may be right about your step dad and the response he got . Hope someone can get on top of this - ie ensure that the meds are changed for next time . Best to do this now .

Good luck ,and don't forget - lots of experience and advice on Tamoxifen thread .
