I have found a lump on the inside of my left breast today while i was putting cream on. I am 48 and my mum is a BC survivor. The lump feels slightly linear and flattish and is about 1cm in diameter. I have made an appointment to see my GP tomorrow. The lump was painless and there are no other visual changes to my breasts. Feels more tender now though as I have been feeling it. I can get it between my fingers and it feels quite hard. Trying hard to keep my emotions in check but.....

I felt a lump before I found out I was pregnant but then couldn't feel it the next day. I then find check for while- I'm pretty sure its he same lump as its in the same place and seems to be deep within the breast so difficult to find.

Well thankfully the appointment is fairly soon, so hopefully you will have the reassurance you need next week.

zippyswife · 25/08/2015 20:49

Yes. I have two young dcs who are a handful so that takes my mind off things a lot of time.

Thanks for the support and Flowers to all in this situation.

Just got home from holiday.

No appointment letter, so called my surgery.

They cannot find my referral (the one I hand delivered before going away and the one the receptionist said she saw when I called on Monday from the airport).

Asked to attend surgery so GP can rerefer. No guarantee of an appt within the two weeks now -receptionist said the Dr may decide to refer as urgent.

My friend says I need to be assertive. All I am now is anxious and a bit tearful...

zippyswife · 01/09/2015 21:32
Flowers You must feel teary but you must insist on an urgent referral. As you need to be seen within the 2 week the frame. If you can't be assertive bring a friend/family member who can be.

And try not to stress yourself out too much. I say this as someone who got completely overwhelmed with the stress whilst waiting for my appointment today. Everything was fine for me and statistically they should be for you too.

Good luck and try to relax Flowers

ijustwant I hope you had a good holiday, but sorry to hear about the mix up with apt, last thing you need. I hope it gets sorted asap. Glad to hear all was well for you zippyswife

The Dr I saw, has referred me and in the form stated that I am highly anxious (her words not mine) in the hope they give me an earlier appointment. I said I was not anxious before, but now I am because of the incompetence of the surgery.

Reception said I shouldn't have posted the hospital letter through the door as it could go missing. They couldn't answer when I said one of their team had mentioned already having it on Monday.

Conversation went like this:

'So what you're saying is I have had this hanging over me the past week, but remained fairly calm as I believed that upon my return I would have an appointment waiting for me. But I am informed that you have no record of any referral request sent by the hospital, nor can you tell me what happened to the original letter I hand delivered to your door. I have more or less come straight from a 10 hour flight, to be told I have to potentially wait another two weeks as you cannot guarantee the cancer two week rule?

Well yes, but it hopefully won't come to that.

FFS

Anyway, rant over as am now calm again and will just wait.

ijustwanttobeme · 02/09/2015 20:43

Yay, appt came today.

Next Wednesday- so only a couple of days over the two weeks. Letter was posted yesterday.

zippyswife thanks for support. I'm not worried now if that makes sense, I'm imagining positively that outcome will be same as yours.

daisydalrymple · 02/09/2015 21:00

Oh good, am glad you don't have long to wait!

ijustwanttobeme · 09/09/2015 18:27

All good - After a mammogram and an ultrasound, they said I had a cyst. Whew, am so relieved.

How did you get on zippy?

zippyswife · 09/09/2015 19:51

That's great news.

They didn't say what my Lump was but that it was benign. I've been referred for yearly mammograms now due to family history.

Lynnm63 · 09/09/2015 19:59

Just wanted to say im really glad both you and zippy had good news. I had a 5cm lump removed last December I got the biopsy results Xmas eve, benign. It was the best Christmas present I've ever received.

MerdeAlor · 24/09/2015 14:21

Can I join in too? Gyne found a lump in my breast on tuesday.

I'm in France so have made my own appointment for two weeks time ( was told it needs to be within a certain time in your cycle).

Not telling anyone as I don't want to talk about it.
