I am really getting hacked off by it. I have never had anything like this before with the ulcers and sore tongue.
GP said it was just a virus, we have all had it, poor children.
Really starting to get miserable now

Was it hand foot and mouth discease?

Overrunnerbean · 24/11/2006 20:46

No, thanks for the info, but the gp says it can't be as we have not had any blisters on our hands and feet. Its still really horrible though. It is the way they keep coming back that depresses me. Supposed to be going for a really nice meal tomorrow night, and eating is painfull

oraldine mouthwash can help as it is antifungal and antibacterial. Hope you feel better soon.

flopflip · 24/11/2006 21:46

Go to health food shop anad buy L-Lysine tablets. Not cheap but they are immune boosters or something but they get rid of allsorts.

I had large cracks on the sides of my mouth for months and they went within days of taking it. Worth a try.

MammyM · 24/11/2006 21:49

Sounds like you're a bit run down, ha ha you're a Mum after all! how about some echinacea (sp?) to boost your immune system and boring as it might sound plenty of fruit and veg (in juice form if you can't bear the 'real thing')

PeachyClair · 24/11/2006 22:43

mother, a bit of a wacky type in her moments, swears by putting a drop of lavendar and a handful of torn up thyme in a mug of boiling water, cooling, straining and gargling regularly

works bizarrely

Overrunnerbean · 26/11/2006 19:10

Thanks for your replies, am using a mouth wash now, and garling with salty water but still have it.
Will certainly look into some of those suggestions ta very much

Are you fit and healthy?
Do you exercise?
I find this makes a massive difference to immunity.

Overrunnerbean · 26/11/2006 19:43

Not really very fit, have severe Asthma and vascular problems, so poor circulation and inhaled steroid use probably takes it toll on me.
Am pretty active nethertheless, walking most places etc
Anything that I have looked into in terms of herbal rememdies, I have had to put on hold as I am breastfeeding.
Well you did ask

Ah dear...
Maybe you're just having a bad run?
My dh (who I've known for 17 years) never seems to have been ill apart from over these last few months when he has just had one fluey/coldy/cold sore session segue into another.

Perhaps you'll both come out of it stronger better people eventually?
