Travel sickness tablets and breastfeeding

Hi, I am a rubbish traveler and have been since I was a young child. My family live a 4/5 hour car journey away from me and because of where I live the roads are very windy for most of the way. I generally always feel sick as a front seat passenger, although I rarely am sick. There is also a ferry I can take although I recently couldn't get out the bathroom for an hour on it as it was quite choppy and every time I stood up I was horrendously sick.

I used to take stugeron which worked well and I had no side affects.

My DD is 9.5 months and I'm still breastfeeding her. Because of this I can no longer take stugeron but pharmacist gave me kwells to take.

They have such a horrible effect on me, my mouth/eyes and nose get so dry to point of swallowing is difficult and blinking is tough. They also make me feel as if I'm drunk!! I remember another travel sickness tablet doing this to me before I discovered stugeron.

I now need to decide whether I want to feel/be sick or feel like I'm drunk and not seen water in days!

I've tried ginger tablets and those wrist bands but neither have helped.

Is there anything else I could take? It takes hours for the effect to wear off.

To make it worse DD also gets very car/boat sick but there's nothing I can give her unfortunately Hmm.

Sorry for long post - just wondering if there is anything else I could take which would be safe while I'm bf.

Thanks.

Can you drive? I have never heard of any drivers getting car sick.

Yes I drive and I don't feel sick if that's what I am doing. DH usually drives as I am a bit of an anxious driver, or we split it in two.

Thanks for the link Kumi...from that fact sheet it would appear I COULD take stugeron?

I quite like the lactimed database, you can search by active ingredient and it gives you risk/?ikely hood of risk details and the info for study sizes etc

Hi, just had to add that I suffer from travel sickness and generally prefer to drive for this reason, but even if I do drive, if the roads are especially bad and windy, it starts again and I have to pull over for fresh air and then start again. I struggle for remedies for when I am driving as they usually make me very sleepy. The doctor did tell me it is rare to get travel sickness whilst driving it's possible but it is still very unpleasant!
