Any GPs around? Face has swollen up

Hi there - I am having fang trouble, but I think it's my sinuses or something as well. Terrific 3-day migraine on one eye last week, followed by acute tooth pain all over the top rung, and a really sore spot at the top right of my mouth, with a hard, swollen cheek. Fever, nausea, no appetite, etc.

Face ain't happy. To cap it all, I chipped a tooth today and trotted off twice to the NHS dentist, only to be booted out summarily because they said they were having a new computer put in 'and we'll forget about you'.

Is it worth going to the GP about? Or do I have to flog to dental A&E for both probs?

Could be shingles, my mum had almost the same presentation a couple of months back. No rash, just one spot near her eye - initially we thought it was cellulitis and our local WIC thought the same. She went to the GP after a few days on ABx with no improvement..... It was thought the virus was hanging around her cranial nerves, hence the severe faceache.
I'd go to the GP first, then dentist.

NOT A DR!! but my face swelled up horribly with sinusitis once, the swelling made my face go blotchy and moved around my face while my sinuses drained. Sudafed helped with the discomfort (if it's that).

All of these symptoms point to being a tooth infection. if you call 111 they can offer advise on dental services in your area. In the mean time alternate ibuprofen and paracetamol 4 hourly if you have no allergies to them a cold compress I the area for fifteen minute every half an hour, keep your head legates including when you go to bed and cool salt water mouthwashes as often as you can face it.

Thanks - I wonder if it could be both. Every time I call 111 they send an ambulance, which is insane, so I shan't be doing that...

Sounds like an abscess. You really need to see a dentist asap and have your face/jaw Xrayed.

They will put you through to dental and can assure you they won't call an ambulance for a swollen face unless it's affecting you breathing

Thanks all - I can't travel far at the mo so I guess I'll have to try the GP first.

Most GPs won't be able to help if it's dental as regulations have changed some older gps will still prescribe antibiotics through 'habit' if you like but they aren't supposed to. Your best bet would be making a dental appointment with the surgery you are registered with if you don't want to use 111

I had these exact symptoms a few weeks back with sinus infection. Started with a migraine for 3 days, Top teeth on one side hurt, roof of mouth on one side and face swelled under the eye.

I was in hospital recently opposite someone that had an infected tooth and yours sounds similar - swollen cheek, (she had really severe pain) and if you have a fever it does sound as if you have some kind of infection, either tooth or sinuses.

I hope you get some relief very soon.
