Help! Just pulled two TICKS off my leg and panicking about Lyme disease.

Went for a long walk last night which involved long grass and woodland. There are cows and I think deer in the area.

Just noticed and removed 2 small ticks from my leg so I guess they've been on me 15 hours. I'm panicking because I know of someone in the area who did get Lyme disease recently, so it is about near here.

What do I do???

It was like a little red, oozing lump on my inner arm. I googled my symptoms and Lyme kept coming up. I had to insist on a blood test as my doctor was very sceptical. The test came back positive and I think he was quite shocked. I pulled it out with tweezers, it was a little tiny grey speck, like pencil lead, yuck!

Santanna15 - Do you still get new symptoms now or just old ones? I get the same ones over and again but not all the time. Its so scary how common it is now :(

Somersetsoul - I don't get any new ones now, but I do get some persistent ones in the same place, mainly headaches and nerve pain on one side of my face. My heart jumps quite a lot and I get more tired. I try and look after myself and I would say I'm about 80 per cent recovered.

I agree it is scary how common it is, but the worst thing is that the NHS don't really know how to diagnose or treat Lyme properly. I would hate my kids to get it.

I was bitten in my old garden, my girls used to play there all the time. I thank god it was me who was bitten.

I don't get new ones either. My memory is fading fast, tiredness and then insomnia, joint pain in my hands, headaches are my symptoms. My chin twitches every now and then as well!

Hopefully this will be it for us and we just continue like this now.

The insomnia is the worst because you can't get better without sleep! It's awful. I find I'm better in a hot climate, I don't tend to have any symptoms on holiday. My GP stopped prescribing antibiotics a few years ago, due to a government directive, I just hope I don't slide back to where I was.

I am dreading the winter. My fingers double in size when they are cold now :(

OP - Sometimes you dont get a rash. If you feel ill tomorrow I would defo get to your GP.
