High temp 3 days after PCV vaccination

DD had her PCV vaccination on Weds morning. She's been a little bit 'off' but last night her temperature went quite high and despite the usualy stripping off, fluids and nurofen & calpol it didn't really get much lower than 37.5. She's normally about 36.8. She's eaten quite well today and apart from being a bit grizzly, she's ok but her temp went up to 39.1 though it's going down now thankfully though still 38.6

It gives me the heebie geebies as she's had 2 febrile convulsions.

The point of this post is to ask is this quite normal 3/4 post vaccine. From what i've googled it does mention fever but to me indicates that it would be immediate and not a few days after.

Just need some reassurance really as I don't want her to have another convulsion.

babylulu had temp afte this one after no reactions to the other....lasted 24 hours...and happened 2 days after vaccination.

calpol and nurofen helped!

bananaloaf · 18/11/2006 18:32

yes seems alright had it about 3 weeks ago

lulumama · 18/11/2006 18:32

same here...back to normal and all well..xx hope your LO is too.....have you tried tepid sponging....

DelGirl · 18/11/2006 18:33

thanks it good to know, well not goo bykwim, that other children have had the same reaction. She didn't really react to the others either.

was just about to suggested tepid sponging too

lulumama · 18/11/2006 18:35

great minds....!

it is interesting.,as babylulu never reacted to any of the other jabs either.....but i would rather she had the jabs than got poorly IFYNWIM.....

DelGirl · 18/11/2006 18:35

No, ive dabbed her forehead and she's stripped down apart from nappy and socks and she's got a fan on in her room bbrrrrr. I didn't think they recommended sponging any more as it can narrow the veins temporarily and restrict blood flow.

still 38.7 and she had the nurofen about an hour ago? hmm, not sure what to do

try tepid sponging or a tepid bath. i have sponged both dss when they have a temp.

DelGirl · 18/11/2006 18:52

Just rung nhs direct and they're calling back and it's dropped now to 38.3. I hate it when she has a temp. At least when she's older she'll be able to tell me how she's feeling.

delgirl how is your lo today

DelGirl · 19/11/2006 16:49

thanks for asking . She still has a temperature but keeping up with the calpol/nurofen. She's quite cheerful so obviously doesn't feel too bad. Hopefully her temp will be stable tonight. NHS said there isn't anything more I can do and it may spike for a couple of days. It took ages to get her temperature down last night even though it felt freezing in her room with the fan on and virtually nothing on.

glad she seems more comfortbalke... i do worry when babylulu gets very feverish.......hope she is even better tomorrow..x

dinny · 19/11/2006 17:51

might it be something unrelated to jab, Delgirl?

is it still high? so stressful when they have high temps. hope she's better soon.

DelGirl · 19/11/2006 18:36

It's been up to 38 today and at the moment is 37.5 which is higher than her normal. I've not stripped her off tonight, she's in her light pj's and a cotton cellular blanket over her and the heating is off in her room.

It could be something else, i've had cold/flu this week and felt the pits tbh but my gut instinct is it's the jab.

I meant to update this sooner. DD has been fine since Monday pm. Just in case anyone searches for similar info.
