I've got a stomach virus and an infection in my face. I'm on abs after which I will be tested to see what the stomach problem is - possible food intolerance or colitis, or just a nasty bug.

I am so tired. I eat crap and I look like crap. What can I do?

Poor you. Are you able to just stay in bed, or at least just rest to give your body a chance to fight your infections?

Can you get someone to fill your fridge with some nice fruit and veg and have a few days of trying to eat well. That may make you feel better.

Sorry I can't offer much more advice.

Hello, you poor thing
I would try some of the following to make you feel a little better...
Floradix iron tonic will help with vitality levels
Get some Solgar ABC Dophilus from the healthfood shop to help replenish your gut lining (it won't cause you further trouble if you do have colitis and anyone in the family can take it after ABs including the baby)
Drink more water - dehydration can make you feel really rough and aiming for two litres a day is good for your whole system
Superfoods that don't require much prep include avocadoes and bananas, both of which I think will also not be too hard on your poor intestines.
Have you had a liver function test as part of the investigations nearlythree? A friend of mine recently had a monster virus that knocked her liver temporarily for six and she felt like death warmed up for a while. I think something like this is on the loose.
Assuming it is all just nasty virus-related, foods like ready-to-microwave sachets of Quaker oats, baking potatoes and dried apricots will keep your energy levels constant.
Take a good multivitamin too once your tummy has settled, and definitely some fish/borage/EP Oil whatever capsules as I find I feel much less grim on those
Dh is tutting at me so I will leave it there
Really hope you feel better soon
If the infection is on the surface of the skin, Nelson's Hypercal cream is really good at soothing and relieving some of the pain

Thank you! chocabloc, I think I do need vits of some kind, I am not anaemic but I don't get enough vits. Lulumama, I hadn't thought of getting some fresh soup, I sent dh out this morning and had lovely organic soup for lunch - very comforting! Marina, thank you for that lovely list, am off to find an on-line health shop! I had my liver checked a few weeks' ago but not since I got the bug - I haven't been right since ds was born and keep getting mystery temperatures - in the end the GP could only conclude it is tiredness. The infection in my face is really in it, inside my mouth and jaw - thankfully it seems to be getting better with the abs. I feel so generally manky, it's really annoying.

Thank you all again. xxxx

You poor thing Nearlythree! I would recommend the 7 seas tonic too - i used it a while back and it really did the trick and i have been feeling like pants for over 2 years now. It's good that you're not anaemic too as often this can deplete energy.

Everything that Marina suggested was excellent (can you be my dietitian Marina?) and i will make a copy of that list as my immune system has recently been buggered cos i had my tonsils removed nearly 2 weeks ago and got post op infection. So defo know how you're feeling. Hope you are soon on the road to recovery. (((hugs)))
