Is there anyway to reduce self harm scars?

My dd has been very brave and told us recently that she's been self harming, we have been to our GP and are awaiting a referral to get her some counselling. In the meantime she is very aware of the marks, which are on the inside of one arm and her thighs. Shes wearing cardigans and hoodies to cover up, but it's hard at school especially during PE and she is desperate for them to go. I'm hoping this is a good sign. In the meantime I'm wondering if there's anything I can get her to help prevent or reduce the scaring while the cuts are still healing?

IIRC you can buy silicone gel from a pharmacy and that will help reduce scarring.

Bio oil

Silicone sheets and pressure will help to flatten them and take the colour out. My gel sheets (big surgical scars on my arm/hand) were cica care, prescribed by the GP. Firm tubigrip will hold it in place, and cover everything up.

Also, massaging the scar with aqueous cream using tiny circles quite firmly (obv on ones which are fully healed) is good
