Rotavirus vaccine and diarrhoea

Just changed DS's nappy after yet another liquid poo and it struck me that it's 4 weeks since he had his vaccine and is due his 2nd dose next week.
I can't find the information leaflet I was given but surely any diarrhoea should have cleared up by now?

He's well and healthy and I'm not concerned that's he's dehydrated. Should I take him to see GP?

Bump, my baby had the same reaction and is due the 2nd dose soon.

It's listed as a side effect but I can't find anything online to suggest prolonged diarrhoea is normal.

I'll ask the nurse beforehand and if need be the 2nd dose can be delayed to give him chance to recover. I might have a think about doing a yellow card report, depending what the nurse says.

I was thinking of delaying the 2nd dose too. A doctor friend (who isn't a specialist but is a GP) said that she thought if the child was going to get diarrhoea it would be with the first dose, the second dose is a booster for the immune system but unlikely to have the same effect.

Good luck with what you do decide to go ahead with. It's hard as your baby is so small and you just want to do what's best for them.

Yes, she advised to go ahead with 2nd dose. She has recently had a baby herself, who received the vaccine, so she does gave an interest.

My dts had the same after his first dose, dtd was fine. Spoke to the hv, and both of them had the second dose delayed, and were both fine afterwards.
The second dose can only be delayed once though for some reason.

It has to be given before 32 weeks to have any benefit apparently.
