Has anyone had problems with the combined pill, but been ok with the mini-pill (pop)?

I got pg on the mini pill. If you don't want to get pg then the depo provera injection is more reliable, I don't know how it affects those with migraine but might be worth a look.

I had to come off the combined pill because of high blood pressure. As I understand it the injection is more like the mini pill.

I got pg because I couldn't remember to take the mp at the right time. I'm so glad it did but now I've got three under five I'm glad there is the option of something more reliable!

I came off the combined pill when I discovered I had a clotting thing, and TBH the minipill was worse for migraines - I used to get them when younger but they stopped when I started taking the combined pill, then came back when I had the minipill.

The taking at a specific time thing never bothered me - I set a daily alarm on my phone (9am so I got a lie-in at weekends but could take it before the working day started) and wherever I was when it went off I just took it.

The combined pill sends my blood pressure up, but it was fine on the mini pill. Mind you, I don't use it any more as I got lots of heavy spotting when I took it (for several years pre ttc) and that was annoying.

A lot of people get bad side effects on Depo (e.g. bad skin, weight gain, total loss of libido) and the trouble is that if you do there's nothing you can do about it except wait for it to wear off (unlike pills, which you can just stop taking).

I'm lucky that I'm okay with the depo, but I wouldn't go for the coil as I've heard so many horror stories. But then others are fine with it. It's so difficult, isn't it?

I've known one person need to have her coil surgically removed, one who ended up on intravenous antibiotics because it caused an infection, one whose coil fell out at the shops, and one whose dh worked making the things and who told her he'd never allow her to go anywhere near one!

My life was complete and utter pish on the mini-pill.

WORST experience of my life and that includes pregnancy.

emmatom · 17/11/2006 23:15

I'm on Cerazette, mini-pill, which you can take within a 12 hour timescale, ie, if you forget it at your normal time of taking it, you have up to 12 hours to take it without jeapordising your protection.

Overnight, it stpped my PMT, I have no periods (bliss) and my skin is lovely (after regular outbursts). It's been a real life changer for me.

I had dreadful headaches on the combined pill. Felt really rough for three weeks of the month and bled for the fourth!! Pointless being on it really as never felt like having nooky!!! I have always been absolutely fine on the mini pill - micronor. I did have some breakthrough bleeding for the first 3 or 4 months but then nothing untoward at all. Good luck - hormonal headaches/migraines are nasty!
