Can immunisations result in vomiting and diarrhoea?

My lo has just had his second batch of immunisations at 22 wks. It's taken us ages to have the second set done because he's had a variety of coughs and splutters since the first lot. Also, just like last time he's suffering from diarrhoea and some vomiting. Last time the doctor said it must be a virus and prescribed diralite which we duly gave the poor mite and frankly the starvation was so distressing for him I feel it took him just as long to get over that as it would have done the virus. Worse still both my partner and I got a 24 hr version of it at the same time but were able to take adult drugs to knock it on the head. We didn't associate it with the immunisations because the doctor said 'virus' and we knew no better.

Anyway since then we've had no problems until now 3 DAYS AFTER HIS JABS AGAIN....I can't help but feel it's related and sure enough my partner and I have had it again. It's like a minor dose of polio...weakness, temperature etc. Again we took him to the doctors and he brushed it off saying it's another virus but I feel doctors are on such an immunisation crusade these days that they brush everything off just in case they start a scare. I'm hoping we don't have to resort to stopping his milk and am getting some goats milk to help his digestion.

I know they warn parents to be careful after the polio booster is given and we have been, but it's quite hard when your baby vomits all over you every day if you know what I mean. Has anyone else experienced a similar reaction to immunisations or should I just put it down to coincidence?

hi decmum, not had the same "virus" your ds had but my ds is 20 weeks and due his last lot os jabs this friday but i have cancelled the appointment.10 days after his first lot of jabs he got broncholitis and ended up in hospital over the weekend ,the nurse at the doctors asked how long it had been since his jabs.he got over it after about a fortnight but has to now take an inhaler twice daily.he was then fine for another three weeks then he had his second lot.exactly 10 days after these he developed a really nasty chest infection and was nearly hospitalised again but my gp knew we could do just as well at home and gave him some very strong antibiotics to clear it up.the chemist who did the pescription is our gps brother and when i went to collect the script asked if hes had his jabs recently.
hes now been fine for just over two weeks and i seriously DONOT want him to have his last lot.
to me this is more then coincidence here, obviously ds has a weakness in his chest and this is where he ges affected.tyring to get up the courage to ring hv and speak to her about this but i already know the guff i'll get .
to me as i say it is no coincidence.

It's so infuriating that we're made to feel that there are subjects which can't be discussed with the so called professionals and yet ask for a bit of practical help and they're suddenly speech-less....I recently asked for an alternative to my microwave sterilizer for a holiday and the HV had no idea there were such things as microwave sterilizers neither wise what the alternatives might be! Almost inconceivably clueless!

karenanne: don't take the guff from your hv, don't be intimidated into doing something you feel is detrimental to your child...i know how bullying they can be: can't you just ignore the appointment (ring up and cancel, reception won't ask why)...?
