Which pill is safest for DD 16?

DD has been prescribed Yasmin but a thread on here regarding side affects concerned me.
I have one gene with a clotting disorder which may or may not affect her and she is currently unwell with numbness in her legs which would mask any blood clot issues.
She has a GP's appointment this morning so I would appreciate any guidance.

From what I understand, the risk is fairly low.

It is just that if you are very young, your risk is pretty minimal, so the increase of risk looks high, in relative terms. (it is increased about 6 times, which is still low, if you have a low starting point.)

If you smoke it is probably worse.

It depends what she is taking it for - do the risks of taking it outweigh the risks of her problems?

Pills containing levenorgestrel (microgynon) are supposed to be the lowest risk, but it is playing with small numbers.

DD wanted it to delay her period for a school trip in early July, clear up spots and as a contraceptive in the not too distant future. Boyfriend of 5 months.
Madly Googling so can at least discuss with GP/DD with some knowledge.

The progestogen in yasmin is better for spots-it is one of the more modern ones which are more like our own progesterone. Levenorgestrel is androgen based so not as good.

My friends dd takes microgynon for bad periods and possible endometriosis.

There are other preparations that can delay periods and give reliable contraception which are lower risk. It might be worth going to the local FPC/sexual health clinic. They have special ones for under 24s these days.

Norethisterone will delay but clotting risk there too.
I think we will ask GP to test DD for Factor five Leiden. I am Heterozygous so hopefully DD will be OK and that will lower risk (not that I have any problems with it, precautions mainly)
FPC a great idea and next step I think, all that googling and didn't realise some pills are best for under 24's.

I used to take Yasmin as that is the one that helps clear up skin, I don't think any others will help with that. (Well they haven't with me)
