I'm in Moscow, where the approach by Doctor's is rather more "hand's on" than in the UK to say the least. Our very happy baby boy is now 5 months, he was an emergency C section babe. Having spent an hour with the paediatrician for what I though would be a routine check up, she has diagnosed hypertensive hydrocephalic syndrome - apparently this is very common in C section babies due to the sudden change in pressure experienced when they are hoisted out rather than travelling down the birth canal. I not too freaked out by this as I am aware of the different approach here - very invasive / "preventative" , whisked into hospital at the drop of a hat etc etc. For someone who comes from a family who visits the doctor once every forty years and for whom two paracetamol and a brisk walk are a cure for everything from piles to a broken arm, this has made me a little uneasy. I'm not panicking, but has anybody else experienced this?
