I bought my mate this book from amazon and she swears by it. It isn't very expensive either which is a bonus

I am having CBT too - have just had one session so far which I enjoyed at the time but the homework the therapist set me made me feel worse. I had to keep a diary and do some analysis of how I was feeling. Because I was thinking about it all the time I felt 'worse' and postponed my next session. Once I had put it off and stopped doing the homework I felt I could cope again.

Do you think my feeling worse was something to work through before feeling better? This is such a confusing illness.

ghengis, I think feeling worse before better is very common. Which is probably what happened with the therapist.
I am not depressed myself now, although there was a time when life was not so good and I used alot of alternative therapies.

It does make you feel worse or frustrated, for me it took time and a want to move on and improve my outlook - it needs time to integrate a new outlook and relinguish the unhappy or old emotions

Hi Ghengis - do u think u could maybe set a time to do the homework in and restrict it to quite a short time span. So say only do 15 mins a day to stop it really getting to you (and then maybe plan something relaxing like a soak in the bath straight after so you can try and switch off from it.)

I have to admit though that when I was in the 'depths' of it all I dont think I could have done it so maybe you just need to wait till you feel a bit stronger (?)
