they normally get bad during the winter esp in the am I take a while to get going but since having J i'm now waddaling around like i'm 7 months PG so my backs killing

I know I have probs with my si joints?? (whatever they are) and when I lay down it feels like my spine comes to the front and my body flops around it iycwim, it's rather uncomfortable, althou i've lived with it for the past 10 years, after it took quite a bashing when I was younger from martial arts, which I was told developed into arthertis (sp)

anyhow other than a bath and the exercise's which I did in rehab can anything else be done? I don't want to take tablets (had more than enough anti inflametories) but when I sit down to get up i'm like a little old lady for a bit till things get better.

it's also not helping running around after J and picking him up all the time, but at the minute he's not happy unless he's being held

any thoughts would be appriciated.
thanks.

Hot water bottle? I have a bad back and it flares up from time to time. Winter is always worst. I sent DH to boots to get a scholl back massager. It's excellent. I think it cost about £40. It has 2 vibrating knobbly bits (ooh err!) that rotate and give a fantastic result. The only down side is that you can't really use it on yourself so you will be at the mercy of Dp doing a decent job! I love mine and couldn't get by without that and copious amounts of Diclofenac.

OOh, wheat bags are pretty good to for when you get a minute to sit down!

munz · 12/11/2006 17:57

wheat abgs what are they?

DH is suggesting deep heat - but that's about as much uses as a choccy t pot, and I end up smelling nasty! lol. not sure i'd trust DH with nobbly bits! lol. he'd get the wrong idea!

They are cloth bags, filled with wheat. They look a bit like a little draught excluder! You put them in the microwave for a couple of minutes and stick in on your back (or wherever!)
They are very soothing and are also good for AF pains etc. You might get them in a chemist or health food shop??? I get mine from trade stands at the Yorkshire show so not much help there. You may get them online or at Boots.

One last suggestion! My GP told me to stretch my back as much as possible by laying on the floor/bed/sofa and pulling my knees into my chest as tight as possible, hugging them with my arms as often as possible. It has helped me alot, but my probs are muscular rather than bony so not sure if that wil help you.

ava he's roughly about 21lb now (haven't had him weighed for about 3 weeks after h/v said to watch his diet. anyhow, will keep doing the streches I was shown in rehab, it's just awful it keeps coming back, and seems to have definatly got worse since being PG. can u get that from boots and such?
