Trapped wind. How does it hurt so much? Relief?

I had a bout of D&V a few days so my gut is full of air. I've had wind for a few days.

Last night I woke in the middle of the night in agony. It was relentless. I couldn't pass it effectively and it was just ripping me apart.

Any relief tips (other than peppermint bloody tea).

When I was crippled with pain and wind from IBS/gallstone Buscopan stopped being effective so I changed to Colpermin (which is peppermint oil basically). Still use this and Wind-eze as and when.

Previously, during an attack being on all-fours (in front of fire) plus a hot water bottle on small of back. Rocking gently back and forth. Alternated positions and held hot water bottle to tummy. A little movement, in other words. Sounds crazy, I know, but this got me through utter agony.

I could track the pain and movement of the attack (which always started with a sore back) through my body. Once I got to throwing up I was on the home run. I don't expect you will go this far, unless you have a gallstone.
