Night sweats but only in my own bed

At home I get them almost every night, to the extent that my nightie is soaked through, my skin needs towelling down and my side of the mattress is stained Blush

I sleep in a cotton slip rather than naked, to soak up some of the sweat, have cotton sheets and a feather duvet (purchased at great expense and made not a jot of difference!) no radiator on in the bedroom and window open a crack all year round.

The problem's just as bad whether it's freezing or a heat wave. I'm 45 but this has been happening for 10 years plus. No hot flushes during the day.

I don't understand why it only happens at home. I travel a bit for work but it never happens in hotels, which I always put down to DH's warm body being absent, but we've been away for HT. One night in a hotel and a week SC, not a single sweaty night.

What do I need to change at home?

The last hotel I stayed in was horrendous for waking up dripping wet. I mentioned it to another girl who was there (work trip), and we both agreed. Two possibilities there: memory foam style mattress (it definitely dipped under your weight, and stayed dipped when you tied to roll out), and a waterproofish layer under the sheets. Either of those present?

For me, its related to time of the month at home (2-3 nights a cycle), but 10 days away with work, and it was every night.

Do you have a memory foam mattress?A friend of mine had terrible trouble until she changed here for a different one with all natural fillings. Not cheap but her night sweats stopped immediatlely. We've just got a new mattress as I was waking up with backache and stiff hips every day and have gone from a firm mattress, which I always thought was better for backs, to a medium and the difference in the quality of my sleep was immediate too.Apart from the other health issue I'm posting on here about that is.
Whilst choosing our mattress the salesman did ask we we were a hot couple in bed (!) and that many people find memory makes them sweat.
Having said that I'd still go to your GP and mention it and see if you can get some blood tests to check all is well.

We changed our mattress to a pocket sprung one, we haven't been able to use a duvet since. It is so warm that even in winter we are warm enough with a sheet, one blanket and a bedspread!

A memory foam mattress makes night sweats much worse. I got rid of mine and got a pocket sprung one.
Other things that help
Two single duvets instead of a double or king. I have a light duvet all year round. I also have a cotton sheet under my duvet because when you have a night sweat and fling off all the covers you end up freezing. The sheet helps.
If you are not menopausal you should check with GP.
