Bloody mouth - 10 month old

Hi, does anyone have any good tips on how to stop bleeding in the mouth?

My ds, 10mo, has knocked himself on one of his toys and I can't work out where he has cut himself in his mouth. It's just constantly dribbling blood, not a huge amount, but a constant trickle. I have tried giving him cold fruit (like icecream temp) and it stopped it for a short while but is back again. He won't let me open his mouth to have a good look around, but all teeth (8) appear to be stable.

Any quick advice would be appreciated!

give him a cold drink??

If you're sure its not a tooth, just leave it karen, it will stop in its own good time - mouths bleed such a lot!

Thanks. Have since given him v. cold water from the tap too and a cold framagefrais. He thinks it's his lucky day with all these cold treats in the middle of the afternoon!

It does seem to have eased again. Will just keep an eye on it and look at his teeth again when he lets me near.

Thanks again

how is he tonight Karen? Has it stopped?

karen99 · 03/05/2004 21:29

Hi Lisa, thanks for asking. It was on and off all afternoon. Found out mainly when it was nap time and he tried to snuggle into me wiping it all over my shoulders!! uuughhh. I was on my third shirt by the end of the day.

Joking aside.. it looked like he cut his lip. Tired him on icecream at one point - for the first time in his life! - and he turned it down! I just kept saying in a years time you won't get enought of this As you said.. sorted itself.

Hope all is ok with you.

oh good, first injury sorted! He won't remember a thing about it tomorrow, will he?!
I remember my DS1 who is now a strapping young man of 15, cut his lip when he was a similar age (bumped it on my mums sofa which had wooden arms... I wasn't paying attention ) Anyway, he bled straight away and as he'd never bled before, my first reaction was to call an ambulance
Can you imagine their reaction if I had done?!!

Bit more relaxed with DS2! But only a bit, bless his little cotton socks!
