he has a patchy rash on his front and neck. and little red dots (like someone has put little felt tip marks on him) on his face, legs and arms. he's not got any other symptoms.

also the patches have little tiny spots in them.

might sound obvious but do the glass test immediately to rule out anything serious. If the spots disappear under the pressure of a glass, then it is likely to be an allergy of some kind. Get it checked out though i would.

hi, did the glass test and it disappeared. we also think it might be an allergy.

Is he on solids? Changed milk? Changed washing powder? Used any cream on him?

It doesn't sound exactly like nettle rash (allergy rash) to me, but I'm not an expert ...

you mean it does sound like nettle rash? because that's what we thought. he is on solids and i just noticed that a particular jar i used had whole milk in it (eventhough it said from 4 months).

a lot of viruses can result in a rash like that, even if baby hasn't seemed particularly unwel or anything.

NotQuiteCockney · 11/11/2006 15:05

No, it doesn't sound exactly like nettle rash, what with the spots on the patches.

(hopefully unrelated) You really can't trust what it says on jars - it's really best to wait until they're six months old before giving any solids, never mind milk ...

gone up to 39.5 now. going to go to emergency docs.

NotQuiteCockney · 11/11/2006 16:42

Sounds like virus. He's probably fine, but getting him checked over is sensible ...
