i think i suffer from anxiety anyway but in the a week or so before my period i am depressed, extremely irritable and generally miserable, in fact it really takes over.

for the last 3 months i have been having awful headaches and brain fog (iykwim) the doctor has done a blood test which was fine but i have now noticed a pattern.

the headache starts with my period but continues for about 3 weeks, i then get a week where it's gone but then of course the moodiness of pms has taken over again.

i took the contraceptive pill once a few years ago and at the tme i thought it as making me dpressed but i am wondering now whether it would help me? i am probably clutching at straws!.

thankyou if you have read this, i seriously need some help before dp leaves me, he just doesn't understand in fact i think he thinks i am making it up with the headaches especially.

try it .. it certainly does regulate hormones so if this is hormonal might help .. don't forget there are many types of pill so you might have to find your own

at least then you can acknowledge to DP that you know there's a problem and you're actively seekigng a solution

I defnitely didn't have PMS symptoms when I was on the pill, and it took me some time to realise what the hell was going on when I came off it!

The pill might help - but it's a pretty serious drug really. Have you tried anything else?

Evening primrose oil is very good for helping with hormonal balance. I take this to help with breast pain that I get just before my period and it has made a big difference.

Might be worth trying this first and seeing if it helps? Go to a good health shop and ask their advice. I would also ask your GP for his/her advice anyway.

i have tried lots of things, some better than others for the pmt but nothing is helping with these headches.

i can't understand really why they don't go hand in hand with the pmt but like i say they last 3 weeks at a time and it's really getting me down.

i have tried : evening primrose
agnus castus (quite helpful)
boots menstrual supplement
fish oils, b vitamins , magnesium
st johns wort
changed diet etc etc

Have you thought about acupuncture?

I had a course a few years ago and one of the unexpected but very welcome side effects was that my hormones suddenly seemed to slot into place (periods have always been haywire, headaches, all sorts).

I also felt incredibly relaxed and unstressed throughout, and it was in teh few weeks leading up to Christmas which I normally find horribly stressful.
