I am beyond pissed off. PMT not helping though justified reasons too. Need something to help as I have shouted at the kids and hate myself.

A good quality supplement for women of child-bearing age will help. Good brands are BioCare, Higher Nature, Solgar and Viridian - there are others too. But you won't notice any effects till next month.

Physical exercise or even vigorous cleaning followed by a bath in bath salts then a milky drink; the magnesium and calcium are stress relievers.

Hope you're feeling better today.

Thank you.

I'm already on Angus cactus and star flower capsules. I occasionally take vitamin b when dh is here to chop them up (massive and vile).

I went to Holland and Barrett today to ask for advice but left as the service was slow and there were four people in front of me. There were other staff but they were stocking shelves. No point full shelves if the customers leave without buying!

I've been cleaning - cleaned out the guinea pigs, hoovered everywhere, mopped everywhere, cleaned the kitchen surfaces, put stuff upstairs, emptied bins so hopefully that counts. Tidy house = better head but things would be better if the kids would help...

What would I be specifically looking for rogue?

I had a wispa for breakfast Grin. Purely medicinal after filling the car with petrol.

A supplement with a pile of magnesium, vitamin D, b-vits, omega 3 fatty acids, chromium to help with cravings for sugar.

IMO Holland and Barrett isn't very good quality and their staff don't seem very knowledgable.

I buy stuff from an independent shop that sells mostly vits, minerals and herbal supplements or online - Biocare and Bodykind are good sites. Look up their suggestions under 'Women's health'

You can buy a b-vit spray btw but I can't remember if it's just B12 - I think it is.

Ideally you'd cut right down on caffeine and sugar; both cause spikes in blood sugar.

Once a week I have a coke and chocolate maybe twice so it isn't those causing my feelings but I will bear it in mind, thank you.

This might be a bit radical and depends on whether you are (or planning to) TTC but have you considered a mirena coil? I was the world's worst person to live with when I had PMT, really abrupt, snappy, bad tempered and over-emotional. I also had shocking periods and flooding, very bad cramps etc. The works. I often took it out on children / husband and was generally awful to be around for at least 2 or 3 days each month.

I know I sound a bit evangelical, and there are people who don't get on with it, but it has literally changed my life. I barely bleed now, I don't really suffer from PMT - a bit of harrumphing and crying at adverts for a few hours Hmm - but honestly, it has really worked for me.

I didn't mean to sound judgmental Blush.

Glad you've had another suggestion.

Xoticdreamz · 22/05/2015 19:52

Prozac , 10/11 days before period due and then a day or two afterwards .
Started this 6 months ago after seeing a PMT specialist nurse .
It's been absolutely amazing , no side effects and the change in me has been much welcomed by everyone around me !
I had previously tried various vitamins but nothing worked for me .

Justusemyname · 22/05/2015 19:53

rogue, I didn't think you were being judgemental. It's a safe bet that a female will like chocolate!Grin

Not ttc but there's no way I would have the coil. The thought makes me wince! Thanks for taking the time to help though.

Completely forgot to get anything today and I'm in a foul mood now. Not helped by DH telling me to chill out when DS moving his bedroom around VERY FUCKING NOISILY was annoying me.

Xioticdreamz - a PMT specialist nurse!!! Where do you get one of those?

I have finally been referred to a gynaecologist to talk about a hysterectomy as I have really bad PMT that affects my life terribly. Have tried everything.

Prozac has never been a suggested option.

I thought a hysterectomy was now my only option, maybe not......

Xoticdreamz · 25/05/2015 12:50

It was at a sexual health clinic mizu . It's my GP that prescribes it though .
It's got good evidence based studies that it works . Not too uncommon to use as treatment I don't think .
It has been such a relief for me .
