Has anyone else had this or is suffering from this now? I have been unable to put my weight on my leg for days and cannot get comfortable. I am on lots of painkillers but they don't seem to be helping much. The dr said it can take weeks to resolve has anyone got any tips to help me get moving I need to get back to work. Thanks

You poor thing :( I've suffered on and off from this for 15 + years (caused by herniated discs) and other than painkillers / anti-inflammatory meds the best thing for me has been a portable TENS machine from boots? Not too expensive and really helps.

Thank you. I think I will need to buy one. I can't even sit down I have been lying in bed since Sunday. I keep trying to stand up and move as I know it isn't good to keep immobile for too long but it is so painful. I can't even sit in the bath! I am feeling sorry for myself today :(

Have you tried an osteopath? I've had terrible sciatica in the past and her adjustments really helped. Now I do regular Pilates preventatively and have been ok for a few months now. Hope you feel better soon: it's horrible Hmm

Look online for sciatica exercises and do them frequently. They are the only thing that helps me when I get it. these are the ones I do:

I get this. My osteopath usually gets rid of it in 3 sessions. Each session reduces the pain, and I have found after the third session I am pain free. I also use a hot water bottle on the painful area (thigh/buttocks) and you can alternate this with ice. Try an osteopath it has changed my life doing this.

I've had it on and off for years, it's horribly painful. For me it's been trial and error as to what works. Definitely see an osteopath, but massage and acupuncture can also help. Gentle exercises to mobilise the sound as well as the ice pack on the back, ten mins on and ten mins off a few time can increase blood flow and help healing. Sending you lots of empathy and hugs!

Spine not sound!

Pilates and yoga can also help once the pain is less acute but you have to be careful as some stretches can make it worse. See if you can find a class that specialises in back care.
