could this be teething?

dd was not herself yesterday and did not sleep longer than 2-3 minutes at a time during the day. She would get to sleep fine but wake up again after a few minutes, this went on the whole day.
She woke up this morning crying which is very unusual for her.
She is not gnawing or producing lots of saliva. She is nearly 7 months now and has no teeth yet and her gums dont look sore.
She is obvioulsy tired and went to sleep just now again only for a few minutes before waking.
Any ideas?

hercules - you'll probably never know! Have you tried some Calpol / other pain medicine. If that helps then you'll know that something is sore, and it may help her to sleep. Lots of syptoms are blamed on teething, and may be due to teething but could be a virus or other illness, so if you are worried or she doesn't seem better in a day or two, ask your GP for advice. Far better to apear an over-anxious parent than miss anything serious imo. Hope she's back to normal soon.

It might be teeth, hercules, though with my dd (now 19months) I never found it affected her sleep but there were other signs like horrible nappies, nappy rash, gnawing everything in sight, dribbling and slightly sore cheeks where the dribble went. Perhaps she's ill in some other way? A tummy ache or headache?

I took the MN advice and got some medised for DS2, herc - he's got cold and is teething too, so is a miserable lump at the mo. Anyway, it seems quite good, sortof like calpol but for teething too

IMO and experience, DS2 has just cracked his first two teeth, the splatty nappies are always a dead giveaway.
I used the toothing powders religiously on DS1 but have been very lax with DS2 and just given calpol on bad days.

Just got back after 3 1/2 hours at a&e. DD has rubella! Had to be seen by 3 docters to get it confirmed though.
