Any dentists got any knowledge of gum grafts?

Currently have one tooth with receded gumline due to clenching and grinding. Trying to find out if a gum graft can be done on nhs and if not hoe much it would be privately. Thanks Smile

Marking place. I have the same problem, the best my dentist could do was to try and put a filling over the exposed dentine. The filling fell off within 2 weeks and its so so sensitive.

Nightmare isn't it fairgame? I posted over in AIBU for a bit more traffic and there's a bit of advice in there if you pop over and have a look. Was hoping a nice dentist would come along here with some advice Grin covers mouth to hide toothy smile

I know a nice dentist. He's currently in the shower but I'll ask when he gets out

It would be a specialist perio (gum) specialist who would do it.

Quite rare for them to be done on the NHS. Patient would have to have excellent oral hygiene and be very compliant with dentist/hygienist advice.

I had one in 2005/6ish think it was around £300 then, probably a lot more now which is a pain as its receded again!

JustOneMoreSliceOfCake · 19/05/2015 22:46

Thanks gobbolin I don't mind having it done privately as it's over £200 on the nhs banding price anyway so it's going to cost quite a bit anyway but at the minute it's bothering me enough to be able to justify the cost even though I am probably being a bit vein

Oh poor you purple would you bother having it done again?

I think it's band 2 (gingival grafts) on the NHS?

Don't know though. Might be worth checking though with the dentist. Also, DH saying worth checking the NHS waiting times for the perio. Around here (NW) it's ages apparently

bump for this as I'm heading toward needing this, myself. Wondering about gum from bovine sources being used instead of ones own.
