Abdominal adhesions after c-section

I had a ruptured ectopic followed by a live birth DC1 10 months later, then a second child 15 months later (VBAC). The surgeon when I had DC1 said I had bad bowel adhesions and it does feel like there is a piece of metal under the scar. What are the implications and what are other people's experience of bowel adhesions sometimes it really hurts.

Hi, I have lots of adhesions, discovered when I had my second c-section - I also have a piece of mesh stuck to my bowel after a failed hernia repair. I've had 2x c-sections and 2x hernia repair operations all using the same scar, now my scar feels like an iron bar. I have nerve and muscle damage due to all the ops which give me awful pain. The adhesions cause pain too, for me it is hard to pin point whether the pain is coming from the scar tissue, muscle damage, mesh or adhesions, but when I sneeze/stand up/roll over in bed then I feel them rip, this is an intense pain like a stitch and takes a few minutes to wear off, and is definitely from the adhesions.

Some people suffer bowel obstructions, others like me, IBS symptoms.

Pain wise there are medication/surgery options, but I don't know much about these as I cannot have any further abdominal surgery.

There is a very friendly group on Face Book, lots of very knowledgeable people and very active, Living With Adhesions You could ask advice on there :)

I think I have something similar. During my section c section they struggled to get baby out due to a lot of scar tissue. Since this second op I have had discomfort and I think it is linked. Gp has not been interested at all. I will take a look at the link.

I had this after a c-section. A lot of pain just as described by Froglets.

Mine wasn't resolved until my hysterectomy. The surgeon was shocked by the extent of it, my op took five hours!

With hindsight, I wish I had kept on going back to the GP and nagging as the difference is incredible now it's sorted.
