I had a gastric band removal and sleeve gastrectomy operation yesterday (stomach stapling')
Just wanted to tell people really. :)
I lost 10kg in the 2 weeks pre-op on the pre-op soup & yogurt diet but I'm still a massive 143kg. Which is frankly disgusting.
But I'm here now, in lots of pain with 6 incisions and a drain poking of of me plus 2 IVs, the usual wires & oxygen lines. Tied to the bed almost!
The physio has been to see me & we went for a stroll up & down the ward.
Everyone says I'm doing ok.
Very very very tired.
Just rambling now. Wanted to say I'd done it. I didn't tell many people before the op but now I can :)
I have s long road ahead. But this has to be the start of a new life.

Hope you can get your license. It must be such a pain not being able to drive.
Good luck with the weight too! I doubt you have to be quite as drastic as me :)

Well. I went back to work. Was totally shattered by 4.30 so went home an hour early but I managed a full day yesterday & I'm in today & tomorrow too.
It's good to be back.
I've told a few people what I had done & everyone has been supportive - to my face at least :)
I think most people know now, at least the gist of what I've had done. News travels fast in our lab

Take some.high protein snacks in. Pot of nuts, chunk of cheese etc
You're basically starving right now so you don't have much energy

Will do QOD, I've been buying little slabs of nasty plastic cheese from the canteen but it would be better to take my own.
The canteen has literally just started doing porridge in the mornings which is great because I'm never organized enough to have breakfast, especially if I'm on an early shift. I was well happy to see that this morning! :)
