Stopping periods for a few months?

Is there something I can take to stop periods for a few months? I can't deal with the thought of any more at the moment and am trying to decide if it's worth making a doctors appointment.

Thanks. Sometimes I wonder if I am going crazy Confused I never hear anyone complaining (in real life) so it's hard to know if I should. I took an appointment straight with the gynae (my gp doesn't deal with women's things Grin) I saw last year and who operated a few years ago. I hate going to the doctor, you never know what they are going to ask.

Of course you aren't being a wimp, in fact the opposite sounds to be the case. I have known a couple of people with proper full blown endo and it sounds hellish. This is making your life a misery and it needs sorting/ managing.

All of these percentages of people with things, they can have different degrees of it.

Fuck. I can't do this. I feel sick. He's going to write me off as being crazy isn't he?

You are not a wimp - if my periods were ever that bad I would be complaining and getting something done. Do get them to also check your iron levels (ideally a full bloods check) while you are there.

I am perimenopausal/menopausal with all that that entails (flooding etc.) and still have nothing like the agony you are going through. However I have been checked out throughly because of the heavy bleeding and anaemia, including two different scans. I was also offered three different treatments, including a hysterectomy if I wanted it.

I would come with you if I could - you need help. Don't let anyone fob you off.

I really struggle with my periods. I'm currently taking tranexamic acid which is helping.

I've got a great gp who is really proactive in helping me. I'm Hoping to be referred for an ablation which is a procedure where they burn off a layer of your womb. This can completely stop your periods for years.
No woman should be left to suffer. I really would consider putting your gp under pressure and insisting on a referral.

I didn't manage to say everything I said here, but from wha it did say he had me scanned immediately. there is a cyst, about 7.5cm which is what is causing the continuos pain in my side. He has said he will take it out if it doesn't settle down. He cannot give me the mirena (didn't want it anyway!) and suggested either the injection or cerazette. He advised the latter incase it starts to do weird things to the cyst I can stop it immediately. So I have a pack of cerazette in my bag Confused He wants to see me again in July. I'm a bit worried about starting the pill incase it puts me in a permanent state of pmt...is this likely? I'll have to see what DH thinks this evening. I'm tempted to say take it out because it's painful and I can't run after the DC like this. But then nor will I be able to run after them if I've had surgery. (And if I do have to have it out I'd rather do it in term time so that I don't have them both to look after all day. He didn't give me an idea of how long I should leave it to see if it should come out or not, although he did say it might shrink or at least stabilise with the pill.

He said to start taking it on the first day of my next cycle. If I were to take it now (mid cycle) would it stop my next period? (Won't rely on it for contraception, just want to stop periods)
