Hospital wouldn't test me for vitamin D

I asked my doctor to test me for vitamin D, iron, thyroid etc. When I rang for results, I was told that they hadn't tested my vit D levels as bone marker results were normal. Can someone explain this to me please! Thanks.

I have just read this thread with amazement. I have been feeling exhausted, anxious and have had aching bones/muscles for about three years. I have had lots of tests but no diagnosis, the thoughts generally being fibromyalgia/CFS. I am taking antidepressants, sleeping tablets and analgesia and paying for private physiotherapy which I can't afford but I'm desperate. I have always been a very active person and now can barely walk the dog for 10 minutes and I can no longer work. I'm just so stiff and sore. We live in the Scottish Highlands so this sounds like a real possibility.

ladybird69 if your bones feel like that, then it is definitely worth getting a vit d test,
. If the doctor won't do it, then it is £28 for a private test from vitamindtest.org.uk. that is an NHS path lab, west Midlands. Quick blood spot, result emailed back within a week.

If you are low , then a few thousand units , up to 10,000 per day may be appropriate. Once replete, which will take several months, then drop down to a few thousand. It is a good idea to measure, then you know what is going on, everybody can have a different response. Try and keep a constant good level. Most vitamin d researchers recommend.
a level of 100. to 150. Try and make sure you have enough calcium, magnesium and protein. Green leafy veg, dairy etc. Have a look at some of the other threads about this, I have posted on several.

Good luck.
