Has anyone else got horrific "winter" hands?

Well I know you have cause I wash just reading on the washing hands thread.

Mine always go so manky at this time of year (sign that winter is here) - I have cracks in my fingers and general dryness all over.

So what can I do? Handcream at all times of course but has anyone got a top recommendation for this? It really gets me down and is painful as well, esp as I use a keyboard all day.

Any thoughts?

Always wear your gloves when you go outside.Even if you are only going to the car.It does make a difference.

Only use moisturising handwash not standard soap.

I have been putting bio oil on first and then neutrogena on top.

Dr. Haushka hand cream is amazing, fast working and it smells lovely but is something like £12 a tube

Failing that, Neutrogena unscented hand cream works brilliantly too and is more like £5

Yes Clary, that's the one. What you need is to ask a dairy farmer friend who has a brand new tub and for you to turn up with a container to put some in. I wouldn't want to take any out of the container after it has had the farmer's hands in it, I have to admit!

aqueous cream, my doctor gave it to me ( you can buy it over the counter £2) you can wash your and with it and also use it as a hand cream, i have found it a god send. otherwise i would go and see your doctor, what i thought was dry skin turned out to be dermatitis.

I've found that this stuff from Lakeland Ltd is fantastic. Not at all greasy, and really does the trick.

Juts a quick update.

On a rare wforay into town y/day I bagged a tube of Hemp handcream from the body shop plus some cotton gloves.

Used the cream and it does seem good despite the slightly funky 60s smell...

Last night went to bed with cream and gloves (plus splints I am wearing for recurrent CTS so I looked very sexy lol) but this am defintie improvement.

Thanks for all tips.

When I go into town I go into Boots and smother my cracked chapped hands in expensive Christian Dior serum for wrinkled faces. Lovely treat!

I nick dd3's emolient cream for her (only slight) excema which comes on with the central heating. Do have to remove wedding ring in winter as gets sore and itchy underneath.

Clary - do you find CTS is at all hormone related? I had it during pregnancy and also after coming off contraception injection. Thought it had gone for good but came back last night with avengence - both hands utterly numb in middle of night.
