Repevax v Boostrix

I'm 32 weeks pregnant and due the whooping vaccine. Two years ago I had repevax while pregnant with ds after lots of research and getting comfortable with the vaccine.

This time I don't seem to be able to do the same with boostrix. It seems the government brought it in for cost purposes and there seems to little or no research on it Hmm

I understand they still stock repevax for toddlers. Has anyone had any luck asking to have it instead of boostrix?

Does anyone think it's worth paying privately for?

I've spent hours researching this and hit a wall. I've decided I want to be vaccinated as whooping is still around where I live however, can't stop feeling that anecdotally me and ds were fine with reprevax 2 years ago so I want the same again..

Anyone's thoughts on this gratefully received Grin

Sorry for typos. Typing quickly on phone with "help" from two year old.

Is there anywhere you could pay for it privately?

Are you sure it was cost reasons that they changed it? Maybe there was an issue with it being used in pregnant women? There was little or no research done on using repevax in pregnant women either.

But repevax has been used for a couple of years now and research has been done with no reported stillbirths and no side effects..

I posted this in pregnancy too and one of the ladies posted to some links which seem to say that generically the vaccine is fine.

I'm assuming that since repevax is still used for toddlers, I could pay at a private clinic to have it.. Just not sure if it's worth it.

It's up to you. When you had repevax the first time the safety of it wasn't known then so it's really no different to the new one now but I completely understand the security of sticking with what you know!

Yeah but repevax had been used abroad in pregnant woman and so was tested. I can't find any data on boostrix being used abroad and no research has come out since its been used in the uk this last year.
