Any advice on childhood flu jabs

We have been sent a note from the local authority inviting our dd (nearly 2) to have a flu jab. I wasn't aware that they gave it to children so young - is it safe? Are there any problems/side effects with it? Any advice or shared experiences would be greatly appreciated.

My ds is older. Had his first flu jab at 8. (half dose). He has lots of allergies and has never had any problems after having his flu jab.

We were sent an appointment for dd last year. She is a 10 yo asthmatic. When I phoned to check this, they said "Oh no we don't routinely do children", so why send her a bloody letter? What got me was that I have kidney disease and asthma and they didn't send for me! I know they routinely give it to premmies with lung probs, sorry I can't be of any help though.

DS2 has had them since 2 and has had no obvious ill effects. He's 5 now, but had 2 doses one year as he needed both the northern and southern hemisphere variants, because we were travelling.

They don't have the nasal one here for under 5s.

No surprise there, though. It probably costs more.
