I posted previously about gp telling me i had Vulvodynia but visit to private gynae diagnosed chronic eczema. Does anyone have this & do they have a feeling of needing to pee- like the urethra is irritated or is this unrelated? My gynae wants to treat the skin condition first as she thinks it may have irritated urethra making me feel like I need to pee all the time- I don't actually need to go I just have the sensation- almost like a tickling sensation. Just wondering what symptoms people have had with this? Thanks Smile

Sorry not same really but I've had on and off chronic itchiness around the labia which is helped by using non perfumed shower gel and fragrance free washing liquid (ecover zero works and no fabric conditioner) and occasional use of daktakort cream. Sorry that's not much help but hope you get something sorted soon.

royalair · 27/04/2015 21:12

Thanks, I had been using daktocort but it didn't make much difference. Gynae has switched me to an oil based hydrocortisone gel and it's really soothing and coats the area like a film of protection. It's the peeing sensation that leaves me feeling like a medical enigma- even Dr Google isn't throwing any light on itSad

Hi Royalair, I have been an on off sufferer of itchy 'bits' for years. I have psoriasis in my pubic hair, sorry gross I know. I also periodically get bouts of itchy labia and vulva and clitoris. No GP or Gynae know why or what it is. I sometimes also get bouts for 6-8 weeks of the peeing thing you describe, it sort of feels like cystitis and thrush. Nothing helps it. I don't know why it happens it is very lowering when it occurs. Sorry no help to you I know.

royalair · 28/04/2015 18:08

Thanks Isobelbenjamin, I've been like this 9 weeks now with some days better or worse than others but I never feel it really goes. It's head wrecking because if I'm distracted enough it's ok but it's exhausting being distracted all the time. I'm sure from surfing lots of women seem to have these 'itchy' problems down below but not talked about in real world. thanks

Oh and I stopped buying posh loo roll with softening agents as they are perfumed too.

Orangeanddemons · 29/04/2015 21:09

Sometimes the nerve ending gets irritated in chronic itchy fanjo problems. This can feel like itchy/tickly.

I had vestibulitits, which is similar to vulvodynia, and this had been caused by irritated nerve endings due to chronic thrush

royalair · 29/04/2015 21:20

Thanks so much for replyingWine. I just can't seem to find anyone with the same symptom. It's so disheartening as I don't feel I'm anywhere near resolving it and over two months where I feel like I need to pee constantly is driving me batty. I don't even know when to pee because the sensation is there all the time. Just wish I could hear that this is a common or likely symptom associated with eczema down there. Blush

When you say 'had' how did you get rid of it if u don't mind me asking

RandomMess · 29/04/2015 21:24

Hmm I would ask to see a dermatologist to ensure that it really is eczema and not psoriasis...

I would think treating the skin condition correctly is the first step tbh.

Orangeanddemons · 29/04/2015 21:27

It just went eventually, when the nerve endings calmed down.

royalair · 29/04/2015 21:28

Sorry to be a nuisance but did you ever have a similar symptom with feeling like you needed to be and how long did your vestibulitis take to go? I've read about it and it sounds horrible

royalair · 29/04/2015 21:29

Needed to pee not beConfused

Yes thanks randomness also, i wonder too if it's psoriasis as it seems there's slightly different ointment needed so if hate to think I wasn't even getting the skin bit sorted.

Has anyone mentioned lichen sclerosis to any of you. It's a skin condition of the vulva which can be similar to psoriasis, but characterised by peeling skin like cigarette paper, tiny almost pepper it like splits in the skin, and itchiness.

WhirlpoolGalaxyM51 · 29/04/2015 21:35

Hi there just saw your thread and what made me itch was a Mirena. Are you using any hormonal contraception? Just a thought Smile

Orangeanddemons · 29/04/2015 21:41

It took about 18 months to go, but would still flare up from time to time. It didn't irritate the urethane though (although chronic cystitis did)

Orangeanddemons · 29/04/2015 21:43

Urethane! iPad fail, urethra!

royalair · 29/04/2015 21:43

Gynae was fairly confident it was just lichen simplex or severe eczema as she called it also as it doesn't have the characteristic white marks of the other lichens. Although who knows- it all seems to be guess work. Not using any contraception but am just finished long term breastfeeding & basically was pregnant & breastfeeding for most of the past 3.5 years having had two babies. Hormone levels checked & all ok according to gp so am assuming estrogen levels ok. The breastfeeding was minimal in last few months-2 mins at bedtime- and finished a few weeks ago.

Thanks orangeanddemons. 18 months poor you. I don't think I could handle 18 months of this. I'd rather a broken arm than my brain constantly saying go to the loo, go to the loo... Shock

I've suffered with ezcema in pubic hair for 10 years until 2 weeks ago.

Am using v v strong steroid and temoving all hair (shaving in between having laser treatment)

I feel like a new woman. I seriously thought I'd cut bits of my skin off some days.

It started when I was pregnant with DS.

WhirlpoolGalaxyM51 · 29/04/2015 21:48

OK not hormonal contraception then!

I hope you get it sorted out soon Smile

Madamecastafiore · 29/04/2015 21:49

Felt like needles or ants walking across my skin. Is that how your feels. I could shred my skin some days.

royalair · 29/04/2015 21:53

To be honest the itching hasnt been the worst bit or at least not at the front. It was really bad around bum for a while - and yes could have described that as crawling sensation- but gynae said its all the one & the steroid cream is definitely helping that but no joy with the peeing. Feel truly miserable with that bit & not sure it's even related to the whole itch/eczema thing

Could you see a urologist? Maybe overactive bladder?

RandomMess · 29/04/2015 21:57

Hmm have you looked at images of perianal strep dermatitis?
