What's a vaginal prolapse like?

mandmsmummy · 25/04/2015 19:28

Have posted lots recently on uti's and sore down below but I think I've realised its inside that's sore. It's also very lumpy. Sore on one side more than other other and a bit that sticks out a bit more. Any advice? X

Go & see your GP & have a chat .?

mandmsmummy · 25/04/2015 20:19

I will but wondered if anyone could relate x

MummyBtothree · 25/04/2015 21:36

what part do you think is sticking out?

mandmsmummy · 25/04/2015 21:58

I'm not sure to be honest. It's at the bottom of my vagina. The area around it seems red and a but puffy but inside my vagina where the lip of it goes round seems to have an extra bit popping out. Really hard to explain x

Sorry M&M half the post went missing there, making it sound very abrupt!!

Sounds like a prolapse but could also be a cyst as prolapses are usually uncomfortable rather than sore unless they are chafing & become infected.

If it's red & sore def see the GP either way, must be painful.

mandmsmummy · 26/04/2015 08:23

Thanks, been in and out of the docs a lot lately. The bit that sticks out isn't sore but the part that it touches is.
Bit worried it's something sinister but has come on so quick x

Do you mean its on the labia on the outside of the vagina? But feels like its bulging? If its sore to the touch, it could be a bartholin's cyst

mandmsmummy · 26/04/2015 11:04

Yes a bit like that but I can't feel a lump even though the area is very puffy and lumpy and bumpy. X

It's at the bottom of my labia majora (outside labia) where it meets the vagina. Sorry for tmi but when I pull it open it looks lumpy and bumpy compared to other side. I can't feel a solid lump though which I'm hoping is good. I've had a uti in the last week and antibiotics but finished those a week ago. It feels sore all the time but not agony. Really getting in a state about it.help x

i have one apparently
found during a coil fitting , i cant use tampons but thats about it, that i can notice.
i have had 4 large dc ,so my gp said its not uncommon .

mandmsmummy · 26/04/2015 12:08

Do you feel like this all the time? This is horrible, sore feeling.
Does my description found like yours? I saw the doc on Friday as I was sore and she examined me and gave me caneston but its more obvious now x

OP posts:
mandmsmummy · 26/04/2015 12:27

Worth mentioning I was treated for a uti last week so could it be the after effects of the antibiotics. It doesn't look like thrush as it's not itchy x

OP posts:
mandmsmummy · 26/04/2015 17:42

So it would seem a little head is appearing in the lumpy bit x

Pleasepassthewine · 26/04/2015 20:57

I thought i had thrush years ago as it didn't feel quite right down there. Kind of a heavy sensation. Tried caneston but it didn't work. The discomfort would ease when I lay down. Turned out I had a pelvic prolapse. It was like something was slightly protruding. The discomfort eased. I saw my GP, just told to do pelvic floor exercises. I had some other gyny surgery recently and they did the repair on it.

mandmsmummy · 26/04/2015 22:52

It's gone down a bit tonight, nowhere near as uncomfortable but not hundred percent. Very strange x

That's really interesting. I think I may have a prolapse but not severe yet!

Today I am itchy, sore and have a slight swelling to the right of my vagina. Can't feel a lump but definitely swollen. Doctor ringing me later and I'm coming on by the feel of it.
Feeling really fed up. Still symptoms of needing to wee and uncomfortable.
X

Vaginas are lumpy and bumpy inside :)

That is normal.

Not sure how old you are but the soreness and needing to wee a lot can be a result of lack of oestrogen is you are peri meno.

mandmsmummy · 27/04/2015 16:28

Hi pinkfrocks
You and I have spoken a lot on the meno pages! I'm 39 and pretty much early peri.
Definitely sore and a new swelling on right side over the weekend, coming on too. Just got over a uti. X

I think there is something on the Embarrassing Bodies website where a woman is examined for prolapse if you can find it.

A prolapse isn't a lump that comes and goes. It's usually internal and you'd be pushed to see it unless it was very bad and hanging out. You'd be able to move it back in with your finger.

You would also have a feeling of something falling out and general slackness.

I'd stop worrying about prolapse and focus on oestrogen treatment if you are peri- ask for Ovestin cream or Vagifem. If you have low levels of oestrogen then you can feel sore, and you can get infections more easily because the tissues dry out and that enables the bacteria gain easier entry.

Pop back to your GP and ask?

mandmsmummy · 27/04/2015 17:40

Thanks Pink
Spoke to my GP who said it wouldn't be peri related and can happen anytime. But I've had so many peri symptoms for a year I'm not convinced.
Having another blood tests on weds to test hormones x

OP posts:
mandmsmummy · 27/04/2015 18:03

GP says it's probably a gland or cyst. I'm steering away form the prolapse now. But do wonder if it's hormone related x

OP posts:
pinkfrocks · 27/04/2015 18:13

so your GP doesn't know the difference between a gland and a cyst in your vulva. Did they look at it?

I'm appalled TBH.

I'm not a dr but any google would show an image of where the glands are in the vagina or vulva- and any dr ought to be able to spot the difference.
Cysts would need removing in some way, (or treated if it's Bartholins) and a swollen gland would be a sign of an infection or something similar.

Is there no one else you can see?

mandmsmummy · 27/04/2015 18:28

It was a telephone appt as I couldn't get a normal one. She has said it doesn't sound worrying as I'm a worrier! She said to see how it goes tonight and will see me tomorrow if need be. I've already booked an appt for the morning!
This is why I said to you in a thread on meno that I'm at the end of my tether. I'm constantly thinking I've got something sinister and trying to get help for peri but they are dragging their heels a bit. For my own sanity I need help. I'm not in agony but my downstairs is sore, like I've had an all night sex marathon! My friend who's a GP thinks bartholins. All I know is after a bout of a uti then worms I have a sore downstairs with a swelling on one side x

OP posts:
mandmsmummy · 27/04/2015 22:26

It seems it's settling down a small bit, saw an obvious lump tonight after a hot bath but does look like a gland. Hopefully it will disappear x
