Should I be invited for a smear test?

I'm 27 years old and it's just occurred to me that I've not had a smear test since turning 25 which I believe is the age you start having them. I have never received any correspondence from my doctors surgery regarding this, or should I contact them to request one? Obviously I will do now I have realised but I wondered what normal protocol is for this?
I did have a smear test at the age of 21 due to some problems I was having and it showed abnormal cells which I then had lasered off (poor terminology perhaps - terrible memory surrounding that!) so maybe I don't need another one yet?

in Scotland it's normally every 3 years. I don't think you get your first one in England until age 30

Sorry I'm wrong, it's supposed to be age 25 in England so must be from younger in Scotland. It is every 3 years though - did you have a smear at 25 or not since age 21?

you can always phone and book one rather than wait

Thanks pixie , Google tells me it's 25 in England and every 3 years. Perhaps first is done within 3 years of turning 25.

NHS Cervical cancer screening in England is from age 25-65, every 3 years from 25 to 50 then 5 yearly. www.cancerscreening.nhs.uk
You should have been invited before now, and you should have had a follow up after your treatment at 21 years.
Ring your GP surgery and ask to speak to the Practice Nurse who can check your records and explain what to do next. To have had a smear at 21 is a bit odd, as it is not used as a diagnostic test. Maybe the information between hospital and GP has affected your being put on the 'routine screening list' - just a thought.
Have a chat with your PN.
