Do you brush your tongue?

gamerchick · 19/04/2015 21:21

Do you drink plenty?

MissBattleaxe · 19/04/2015 21:30

floss every day, and always keep your mouth wet. Do you take any meds? Sometimes they can give you funny breath.

Could you have tonsil stones? I has a horrid taste in my mouth for months. I had a peek with a torch and saw a white lump. I poked it with a cotton bud . Out came a huge stinky lump. Foul taste went immediately.

I was going to suggest getting your tonsils checked (if you have them still!). They can often harbour gunky bits that cause bad breath.

Otherwise, try something like the Orabrush to clean your tongue daily, floss and use a mouthwash. Drink lots of water and take a multivitamin.

In answer to the questions - don't have tonsils. I don't brush my tongue would that help? I drink a lot of water and yes I floss every day. How can I always keep my mouth wet. I do a lot of sport and sometimes my mouth is dry. I take statins but had bad breathe before that.
Do any of the mouthwashes work?

Bad breath is a bit of a fear of mine. When I brush my teeth I do my tongue, roof of mouth, cheeks and lips as well; may seem excessive but does the job. Keep a bottle of water with you at all times to keep your mouth wet. Breathe through your nose not your mouth! Mouthwash is good yes. I also chew gum as it keeps the mouth lubricated and fresh. GL

This might seem strange but my dad told me that taking probiotics really worked for someone he knows. Not the yogurt type, the proper powder that you mix with water. Worth a try?

Are you lactose intolerant? My DS has this and at times his breath smells like a zombie's crotch.

ZenNudist · 20/04/2015 20:26

I hear gargling with citricidal grapefruit seed extract works.

Thank you. I will give some of the suggestions a try and see how I go. I have read on the NHS site that a dry mouth is to be prevented and that people ( I am one0 who snore and breathe with their mouth open might be more likely to suffer a bad breathe so drinking water especially in the morning is important. I could be lactose intolerant. I do get a bloated slightly sick feeling when I have a lot of milk with cereals etc.
