My litlle boy is 3 he hasnt been well for 2 weeks now, generally down and every other day being sick, he has sores on the corner of his mouth, very pale with pink shadows around his eyes, in two week he has lost half a stone , he also keeps getting blemishes on his body which come and go quite quickly, but in different places on the body - i spent all night in hospital last night with him so they could run tests but they cant find whats wrong with him has anyone else had the same thing

Could he have developed some kind of food allergy.

buktus · 03/11/2006 21:31

that was the first question at the hospital, but he hasnt eaten anything different to usual and because of half term he has been home so pre school couldnt have given him anything either, and they have ruled out a bug because the other two dc haven got it
the hospital said his immune system isnt working prop they dont know whyy but a sign of that are his spots and sores but they dont know what is causing it, its a mystery but so annoying as some days hes okay and then others back to square 1 again

buktus, so sorry to hear your ds is unwell. Must be so worrying when you don't know what's causing it. You mentioned low immune system... a girl in dd's class (reception, so they're 4) had to delay starting until just recently due toa weird blood disorder that appeared out of nowhere. Turns out in rare cases illnesses like chickenpocks can result in in some systemic disease and affect the immune system, bad blood counts and the like. Not much here I know but I naturally didn't want to ask the mother too many questions as she's got enough on her plate...

Hope the find what's wrong with him soon. I spent a lot of dd's first year going in/out of hospital because she kept getting poorly. They did lots of tests and in the end it turned out to be chronic tonsilitis! Makes you wonder why it took them the better part of a year to look into her throat!!! Answer: in a baby so young tonsilitis isn't common. ARGH. So keep pushing the doctors even though the tests are hard on you lo.

Thinking of you

how awful for you both can only agree with mrsbonfire and keep taking ds back to the docs, its taken 18months to diagnose my ds and ive been nagging the docs since the day he was born.

if you dont keep ringing the docs/going to hospital then your poor little boy will be forgotten amongst all the others.

my g.p knows me by first name and when i ring the reception they say "hi clare"

buktus · 05/11/2006 19:35

thanks mrs bonfire for your reply i am going to google to see if i can find anything out about that the spots are very much like chickenpox, thanks

Buktus, I can't be of any practical help but I really feel for you and your poor little ds. I hope you manage to get some answers soon, fingers crossed,

How is he now buktus? Have just seen this - I hope he is being referred to a paediatrician, this doesn't sound like something GP should be dealing with.
