Dental splint for Bruxism (teeth grinding)

As above has anyone had to wear one of these at night? I was at the dentist today for my checkup and mentioned that I'd been having a sore jaw when waking up he asked about regular headaches and poked and prodded then told me i would need to go back for a splint. I was in a rush so didnt ask any questions (stupid I know) and on googling them in pleased to see they're pretty inconspicuous I initially thought it would be one that looked like a boxers gumshield
My questions are
Do they work?
Are the comfortable?
Do you need to wear it every night?

Yes I have one. Much better than the gumshield type which I have also had. Very comfortable and invaluable for protecting your teeth. It's supposed to stop the grinding completely I think but I still wake up with a sore jaw occasionally. I wear mine every night because I'm so used to it and I'd feel strange without it! It does make morning breath worse but worth it for the protection of my teeth.

Thanks I didn't even really know in was grinding my teeth so it was a wee surprise! Glad to hear they're not too ucomfortable gutted about the morning breath side of it but agree, if it protects my teeth itll be worth it!

Hello I'm going to see my dentist on Friday as I have a tingling face & it could be caused by teeth clenching. I'm hoping the tingling face is because of that & it will work. Good luck with yours

My teeth were already a bit worn when the issue first came to light (I was being investigated for TMJD which is another associated problem). I was so pissed off with my dentist for never warning me. He must have noticed. But that was a long time ago now and he had retired before I could mention it. I hope dentists are more clued up on it these days.
