Wasting gp's time?

I'll try to keep this as brief as possible, I have a ds who is 1 next month (possibly relevant), anyway over the weekend I was laying on the floor stretching my back out when his dad noticed a lump on my ribcage and asked what I'd done and when. I never even noticed this lump until he pointed it out but now I know it's there I'm noticing it all the time. It's on the lower part or my right ribcage, it's not soft but not hard Confused. Before my son I would've just ignored it until it became unbearably painful but now I don't know whether to go to my gp or not. I need to go anyway but I just don't want to waste the gps time or be one of those crazy hypochondriacs that goes in for every little thing. What could it be and should I just suck it up and talk to the dr about it? Tia

Go see your GP & get it checked.

No one on the internet can diagnose you - a lump needs looking at.

Ring them tomorrow - please. Flowers

You could call nhs direct but I'm sure they will say see your gp. Be brave!

chocolatelife · 14/04/2015 09:20

is there anything else you could go with at the same time? that's what I would do, I hate feeling that I have wasted GP's time,
or can you make an appointment in advance rather that on the day? Again just to make you feel better.
do theyoffer you a nurse appointment?

britishbakeoffblues · 14/04/2015 09:21

Why do you feel you would be wasting your GP's time?

makeminea6x · 14/04/2015 09:26

Go and see your GP but doesn't need an urgent appointment unless it hurts or you are unwell.

Please don't make a list of problems before you go to see the GP. It is incredibly frustrating as there is never time to do everything justice. Ten minutes really isn't very long. Especially never (and I know this doesn't apply here) ask about extra problems if one of them is a gynae concern and you might need examining because it takes a fair bit of time on it's own!

Make an appointment and go.

Brandysnapper · 14/04/2015 09:30

I'd go in for any lump that didn't have any obvious cause.

Musicaltheatremum · 14/04/2015 21:12

It's quite probably just a rib that's sticking out or something else similarly benign but I would be happy to see you. Reassurance is a huge part of our job and I'd rather see 10 worried lumps than people who come with a sore throat after 12 hours who haven't taken anything to see if it will help.m
