Laser eye surgery - recommendations please

Have finally decided to bite the bullet and get this done, my prescription for short sightedness isn't too bad -1.50 and -2.00 but I'm fed up of not being able to wear contacts when my hayfever is bad and swimming is a pain with glasses. So I'm looking for recommendations of where to go to actually have the procedure, any advice gratefully received, tia.

I had laser eye surgery through optical express 2.5 years ago. I would highly recommend it. My prescription was -2.00 and -2.25 and I think I paid £2000ish. It literally took 10mins to do and I was only away from home for about 3hrs.

The worst part for me was not being allowed to wear eye makeup while my eyes were healing.

Moorfields. Had mine eleven years ago and very similar prescription. Never looked back.(!!)

Thank you both, am deliberating between the high street cheaper option or the Harley St/Moorfields type option which obviously costs more. Is there really any difference in treatment and outcome?

The surgeon who carried out my highstreet procedure worked Mon-Friday in a private, more expensive clinic and he told me that going direct my op would've cost around the £5000 mark.

I would maybe contact both and see if you can obtain detail about the equipment they use and the surgeons qualifications/experience. The outcome depends wholely on the type of treatment you are eligible/opt for from my experience and speaking with others who have had the treatments.

This links may Answer some queries, however the surgeon will recommend the best procedure for you:

I did investigate using a high st clinic (Boots) but wasn't happy that I would only meet the surgeon once for the procedure. The initial assessments and post care were by 'consultants', not medical ones. However, I did go for a free assessment first which checked my basic suitability for LASIK. I did get some useful info. I then chose Moorfields for the actual procedure as it simply felt safer. Most up to date people and equipment and the reassurance of being with the right people if there were problems.

I was very happy and for once wasn't looking to economise Smile.
