Vaginal/cervical mucus

Sorry to all reading this. Was just wondering if anyone else gets a clear-ish, odourless stretchy, almost slightly gelatinous mucus every now and then when they wipe themselves? . Im guessing its from my cervix and related to having a Mirena coil which ive had for nearly two years now and no problems. I dont have periods with this coil and my recent smear test done about 6 months ago came back fine. I know you can produce this goo (soz!) when ovulating but wasnt sure if it happens with a coil in & therefore no menstruation.

If you didn't produce mucus you would be dry and sore and need hormonal treatment.Have you never understood that women produce mucus all the time they are fertile from puberty to menopause.

Yes - completely normal as far as I'm aware. I've had it on and off ever since puberty. I seem to produce a lot of discharge, sometimes it's thin, sometimes mucousy. So long as it's not smelly, cloudy or itchy then you're good x

Its a totally normal part of your cycle. Prob lasts around 2-3 daysand comes after or during ovulation, when you are at your most fertile. The gelatinous mucus is sometimes referred to as 'egg white' due to its appearance, and apparently is thick in order to help sperm travel towards the egg!

But yes, totally and utterly normal.

The Mirena coil may prevent ovulation in some women but not in all. What you are describing sounds like egg white cervical mucus (EWCM) to me and occurs at ovulation. It looks like egg white and has a stretchy consistency. Very very normal and nothing at all to be concerned about.

Yes its like ovulation mucus not general normal vaginal moistness, Im not that thick where I need the obvious pointing out Grin

The Mirena doesn't usually stop ovulation, it prevents implantation and the lining of the uterus building up - like the mini pill but in situ.
