Rubbish immunity- any tips to improve it?

I have had on and off colds since October last year. Had a really bad cough/cold in October that lasted for a week and every since then I seem to be getting colds every 2 weeks on average. They're not bad ones and only last for a few days but I have had enough! Went to doctors in Jan as cough had got worse and was given amoxcillin. Cleared it up but keep getting viruses. I've had full blood count run and that all came back fine.

My dd turns 1 in two weeks and she started at nursery in Dec. I went back to work ft in March and am down to 1 bf now. Gp told me my immunity will be lower due to bfeeding. And you get loads of germs until they turn 2.

I had a blood transfusion when dd was born and I am 1 stone lighter than I was before I got pregnant. My bmi is definitely in underweight despite me eating regularly- one of those lucky people with a fast metabolism. I eat loads of fruit/veg and get loads of fresh air. Don't drink much or smoke.

Why am I picking up all these bugs? My DH has been fine whereas I have been laid low with everything going and it's starting to annoy me now!!!

Any tips on how to boost immunity welcomed? Or do I just have to get on with it for and sit it out for another year??

Marking place for ideas. I've been ill for two months and feel like my immune system is shagged.

Have your thyroid checked by your GP and see if theee could be any other underlying causes of your low weight.

Being low weight in itself can lower immunity as the body has to work to keep the vital organs and systems going and there is not enough nutrients and energy to go around. Finding the cause of your low weight and addressing it is a priority.

Other than that, healthy eating is an excellent way to help the immune system. Lota of fresh fruit and veggies. All different colours. Whole grains. Cut down on additives and processed foods, cut out drinks with chemicals, drink water juice etc. (see cleaneating, I'd recommend that. Cuts out the crap without cutting out what you need.)

Reducing your anxiety and stress levels can make a huge difference. There are lots of wats to lwarn to do this. How we respond to pressure and difficulties makes a massive difference to our health.

Once you put some weight back on, exercise can help too but I do not recommend it to someone with a BMI less than 18/17.

High dose vit D spray.
We all take the 3000 dose spray everyday and we don't get coughs or colds.
I swear by it.

Thanks all.

Yes I've had my thyroid checked as thyroid problems run in maternal side of my family and that was normal. I work for a dental company so always on top of hygienist appointments ??.

I've been underweight for years- never been a huge issue. I eat loads and regularly but just always been in the slim side- my dad is the same.

Definitely going to try vit D spray though. Just need to check if you can take when bfeeding as my dd is on vitamins too and don't want her to overdose.

Thanks all- at the end of my tether with this now! Convinced it was to do with huge sleep deprevation and multiple night feeds till 7 mo.

All of my family take a probiotic daily. I swear by them.
