Breast reduction experences

I'm thinking about asking for one. I'm a 40K and my boobs are causing me bad back pain. I'm quite petite- my boobs are almost the size of my head! I'm working hard to lose weight and it seems to be coming off everywhere but the boobs!

Has anyone had a reduction? Did it improve your life?

I would love to hear some experiences also and it would be good to hear before and after sizes. I have been considering BR for the last 10yrs but I have always feared being laughed at as I am a size 38dd/e - which some may consider to be quiet small in the grand scheme of things.

I am more serious now as I have recently been diagnosed with asthma and I feel that the weight of my breasts does have an impact on my breathing.

For me I am more concerned about the droopiness and weight rather than image. I have been though so many bras (professionally fitted) and none seem to really do the trick.

Zeddybyebye - I once lost 3 stone and my boobs didn't change at all - so frustrating

I had one at age 22 and it was fantastic. Changed my life. It was certainly the right choice for me and I can recommend having it done. The only hard bit was having the drains removed, but that only took seconds.

Recovery takes a little while because you're sore and tender, but just buy some supportive bras and it's fine.

Thanks! Time for a chat with the doctor, i think.

No experience having had one but work in operating theatre doing plastics and the results are always amazing!!

That's what I like to hear! :)

Will they be perky again?

I had one after my second child. I had gone up to a j cup with both pregnancies and then gone back to a 32ff but they were saggy with no volume at the top. The surgery was fine and, apart from the drain removal as hidden said, recovery was very quick. My boobs were basically 'reset' to their 18yr old state - the doctor warned me that they would behave accordingly and any future weight gains or pregnancies would have the same effect as before. I went on to have one more child so they aren't quite as perky as before but they are still 1000times better than before the surgery. My scarring is hardly noticeable and I have never regretted doing it.

Do you have any loss of feeling?

You only need to google to see results, it's a fantastic surgery. You may have some feeling loss on the scars (as with most surgery) but full nipple sensitivity remains, very rarely does it not.

I had it done. Absolute nightmare recovery. 6 wks hospital stay due to bad infection. 6 months of an open wound big enough to fit my closed fist into. Daily dressing changes by district nurses. Further surgery to try and repair the damage done which unfortunetly infected as well. Bad scarring.

This was done 16yrs ago (last wk funnily enough), BUT,

I'd do it all again Smile

I've never regretted having it done, despite the problems after the surgery. My life is so much better for it. I can buy nice clothes and bras and go out there feeling so confident.
I was HUGE. Jordan at her biggest was smaller than me and mine were natural.
As for loss of sensation, I gained sensation. They were so big before, I had no feeling in them whatsoever.

Moral of the story. If it will make a huge difference to your life and you're willing to take the risks of things going wrong (rare, but, they do) then go for it.

Good luck.

Just to add. When they weighed what they had removed, it came to a whopping 10 1/2lbs and I was still a d cup.

twirlypoo · 06/04/2015 16:21

I'm marking place if that's ok. I'm a 34g and I genuinely hate my boobs and am sick of the way i look. When I lose weight it's never off my chest, and it just makes me look worse as I'm then even less in proportion. I'm a lone parent and my only concern is recovery with a 3year old. I am thinking it may be better for me to wait until he's at school? Any one had any experience of this?

I had one last November. I was a 36HH. I was suffering with back pain, headaches, neck pain, skin problems etc.
I'd been toying with it since I was about 20 when I was a size 10 and a GG cup. I'm now 42, and a size 16. I need to loose weight but the boobs themselves were hindering me.

I went private after a friend of a friend recommended me a private surgeon. I think the personal recommendation was the one thing that finally pushed me.

The surgeon took just under 6lbs off my chest. I stayed 2 nights. 5 hour OP. No drains. The OP hurt a LOT for 24 hours but I was on morphine so slept mostly. After that it was just paracetamol. The pain itself was minimal. I wasn't allowed to drive or lift anything for 2 weeks. I had to be careful raising my arms or reaching high. The thing that surprised me was how tired I felt for a long time afterwards. I couldn't go out for very long because I just felt completely wiped out.

4 months on, it's great. Scarring is minimal already. I'm still in soft support bras so am unsure of my size. If I'm honest, cup size wise I don't think I'm hugely smaller BUT the shape and weight is drastically different for me and I'm thrilled. My surgeon has created boobs that fit my frame so they'd never be tiny.

It cost me £5,600. I paid on credit card then transferred to a zero percent interest one. I've paid of half already.

My only 'problem' has been that one nipple is mostly numb and the other more senstiveGrin. However, I really don't care. I love my new boobs. I would recommend anyone who was desperately unhappy to go for it.

Orangeanddemons · 06/04/2015 16:40

I'm on the waiting list for it. I'm a 34kk and am exhausted hauling them round. I've gor severe upper back and neck pain, and got referred on NHS
