Mooncup or not?

I suffer with heavy periods and have heard that a mooncup could be the answer. I know nothing about them at all and wondered if anyone else could tell me about them? I normally have to change my pad/tampons every hour so would a mooncup cope? I will Google it but would prefer to hear real opinions.TIA

I find them much better than tampons with a heavy period - still needs changing quite often, it's not a miracle answer, but definitely an improvement. It took me quite a while to get the hang of it (2 -3 cycles definitely) but for me it was really worth persevering.

I'd give an XL MeLuna cup a go.

I love my meluna cup. I know many don't get on with either the idea or the practicalies, but if your struggling with tampons, they are worth a go. I agree with 2-3 cycles to get used to them.

I have used tampons since I was a teen but after having my DC I find tampons uncomfortable sometimes. I will definitely try out the above suggestion. Would you advise using a home to start with until I am used to it? I am just a bit worried about it staying in? Can you feel it when it's in?

I have used a mooncup for 7 years and recommend it to everyone (that I can have such a conversation with). I agree with above that it takes 2 or 3 cycles to get the hang of it. I still use a liner during the really heavy times or change fairly often. I never had a problem with it staying in and in the beginning I did not do it quite right but it was easy to fix. I used to get really bad yeast infections and since using the mooncup, they have stopped.

Not stay at home, as in not leave the front door, but I wouldn't go more than 2 hrs without visiting a toilet you are comfortable in (ie not the public loos in the early days!).
You can always back up with a pad til you are confident.
You will need to learn how long the cup will take to fill (not an issue I've come across for me).

I can't feel mine when its in, but people who fill the cup say you can tell when it is nearly full.

I also transferred to a cup post (very fast) delivery of DS2, and tampons just didn't a) feel comfortable and b0 do the job.

Definitely worth a go. I love mine - my periods aren't super heavy but have certainly become a bigger deal as i have got older.

Can't bear to use tampons or towels now - tampons just feel like they are 'dragging' and falling out.

I have had my mooncup for years - maybe 6 ? I wish I had tried it sooner.
