disolving stiches

had an ovary removed on Monday (second attempt) when I've had laporoscopy before the stitches have been dissolving and when I've seen them they were sort of 'neat' with no ends.

Now I have assumed that these are the same but they look like the old fashioned stitches I had as a kid that needed to be taken out.

I forgot to check with the doc and although I have a number for the GYNAE ward I wondered if there is a way to tell by looking.

Obviously if they are not dissolving I need to see my GP to have them removed.

They can still be dissolving stitches but be placed so you can see the knots and ends rather than under the skin which is more usual. However, unless you are familiar with different types it is hard to say just by looking whether they are dissolving or not. I would check with the surgeon to be sure. Even if they are dissolving ones, if you can see the ends, then they will take ages to actually dissolve, so there is no harm in getting them removed anyway, e.g. After two weeks - again check with the surgeon.
