Hepatitis C from blood transfusion

My mum had a blood transfusion in 1976 after having me. Just seen the news about blood transfusions. Should I be persuading my mum to have a blood test? Do you ever naturally over come this. Could she have treatment for it nearly 40 years after infection if she has it ?

Hi my mum had a transfusion back in 1980s she then got cancer in 2006 she fought it .then she got really unwell they took her in kept doing test and we thought it was the cancer then the 6 day in said we are transf her to another hospital to for more test then with in a few hour got told she needs a liver transplant and they was getting her ready and said sorry she has just got to ill we have to move her to IUC. And then had 24 hours left with her she made 37 hours it was so horrible. After we asked why this happend they said it was hap c ...probably from the cemo???.which sets it of from being in the body from early in her life ...wich I don't no what to do now should I ask someone to look at this case .
