Need to keep focussed as the DTs are about to be dropped off and the other kids will arrive anything from 15.45 to 16.30. DH on route back, but I need some company to keep me here iyswim.

I have no idea what has caused it, my balance is a bit off. Am concentrating really hard to type this.

Any one else ever come over really dizzy for no reason?

hint of flu? I've got something odd that keeps coming and going. Rest would be ideal but probably a stupid suggestion

How did it go Mars?

MarsLady · 31/10/2006 13:40

Hi

Well it's either Labywotsit or it's Benign Posteria Vertigo. It's likely to be BPV as I wasn't ill and had no ear ache etc. BPV is where a crystal forms in the ear canal right down in the inner ear. The only thing to make it better is to do the thing that makes me feel worse (eg move my head from side to side).

The doctor gave me some Betahistine tablets which treat the symptons and so whilst I'm not feeling like I'm on a boat anymore I am extremely tired (side affect) and only a little dizzy... but not really dizzy iykwim.

Had a couple of friends pop by yesterday (complete surprise). Fortunately they arrived just as the tablets were kicking in. One said that he always knew I was unbalanced but to hear it from my own mouth was priceless..... swine!

Anyhoo.... I'm getting there. Apparently it will be about a week before I'm completely better. Thanks for your help and making go to the doctors (it had gotten worse by the time I got there. Even my favourite Receptionist was concerned. She popped out to the chemist to fill the prescription for me and she called my bf to come and pick me up. )

Good afternoon MarsLady
Glad to hear you are on the mend. Maybe I have BPV too as I never feel sick, just a bit lethargic. I have it a bit at the moment but can function fine as long as I concentrate on my balance. If I don't I get a list to starboard.
The first time it happened I got out of bed one morning and toppled over like a skittle. It was really wierd, I could see and feel I was falling but nothing kicked in to stop it. I have never had it as bad since, and I was 90% better by lunchtime. The last 10% took about a week.

labyrinthitis is horrid. Had it very bad for 3 months. After 2 weeks thought I was getting better, but then it just got worse and worse.
There are exercises you can do to clear it called Cawthorne Cooksey exercises. However very few people get to know about these, so people often suffer for no reason. I had mine via a physio, but you can download them.
They really are miracle workers, but you have to keep doing them.
Even after I got better I still felt it returning whenever I saw panning shots on t.v.It was patterned carpets that did it for a colleague!
