Torn between looking forward to an operation and worrying about it.

Rock and a hard place!

I've needed it doing for a few years now, but battled to get a proper diagnosis. (Missed on original xray, sent back and forth for physio and to the hospital, finally sent to consultant who glanced at the xray, told me what the problem was, sent me for a steroid injection and then declared I needed surgery).

I'm excited (!) about the prospect of being pain free. Finally.

Worried about the pain and being stuck on crutches for several weeks or so.

And concerned that I've got everything set up and DH has booked time off work and they might cancel my appt and move it.

I just wanted to reply because no one else has. Just this week I've said yes to having major operation likely in the next few months. I'm sick to death of the side effects I'm suffering pre op and looking forward to being "normal", although can't imagine that. My sister had same op before Christmas and feels great.

However, I know I'm in denial and will be worried about the actual op and the pain and recovery afterwards.

You're likely to have pre op assessment, checking your general health for the op, so mention your divided emotions to the nurse or anyone who will listen, actually. Although my appointment went well my consultant I forgot to ask quite a few things.
