SPD pain after baby?

I had SPD whilst pregnant last year - ending up fairly immobile before giving birth to DS.

The pain seemed to go almost instantly but over the last couple of months seems to have returned. Does anyone know if this is a thing or could it be that I've done some damage?

I'm still breastfeeding my 9mo so am taking paracetamol when it gets bad, but that's not really helping, so I'm wondering if it's worth going to the GP or if it'll just be one of those post pregnancy things.

Thanks in advance

Mine continued post delivery, but worsened considerably when I fast weaned DS1. I was eventually referred back to the women's health physios when DS was 18 mo and she said the post-weaning aggro was due to falling relaxin hormone, which is kept high by BF. Are you dropping feeds? I still get premenstrual niggles nearly 10 years later, so it's worth following up - speak to your GP about a referral and be persistent if you have to be.

I had to visit an Osteopath as all my joints were thrown out by the SPD and delivery also. Also, breastfeeding can keep some of the hormones going so you might still have symptoms, and if you are feeding in uncomfortable positions or baby wearing this might add to it. I have been diagnosed with EDS hypermobility syndrome, which only started causing my pain due to the extra relaxin in pregnancy and contributed to the SPD so you may need a referral to rheumatology to rule that out if your symptoms persist. (It's quite rare but more common in women). Hope that helps! X
