Go to hospital or not to go? nhs 24 isn't really helping

So last week I got diagnosed with hemiplegic mograines. Symptoms included:
Left body paralysis
Left head numbness/tingling
Blurry flickering eye sight
Severe headache
Sickness
Pain in left arm and leg

Everything all left side related tbh, I got out on Friday and given appointment for this Friday to get medication to try and prevent this happening again.

Problem is I don't know much about this type of migraine as it's rare. Not using Dr Google as mum said there's a few scary stories which will only stress me and in turn make me worse. Today at work my headache had became severe again (hadn't completely gone) and getting weird sensation in arm and leg again and blurry eyesight.

Phoned NHS24 and all the woman said was either wait it out or go back into hospital. Not definative answer.

I don't want to look stupid going back to hospital when I know what it is but also want it noted somewhere that my symptoms are back.

Dilemmas!!!! Sorry rant over.

Xxxxx

Hopefully you'll get some answers tomorrow, perhaps write a few questions down that you want to ask the Dr/consultant.

If you do a Google search try and keep to charities and medical ones like nhs choices, I did a quick Google search and it looks like there's support out there for you. Also ask your consultant what support there is for you to help manage your condition x

Now passthewineplz that's a good idea! Going to ask for a pen and price of paper and write a few things down to remember and ask tomorrow. There's so many questions I want to ask.

Ah thanks I might just go ahead and do a little Google search. I just don't want to scare myself. I really liked the links I got pm'd, so greatful for them xxxx

I get these type of migraines too. Had the first one when I was 21, and still get them now- roughly every 18 months.
The first one was terrifying as the Drs were talking about strokes or brain tumors, and the first one took about a month before I was back to my usual self. I've sort of got used to them now- my symptoms last anything from 2-14 days when I have them, and I now how they feel, so I don't go to the Drs unless something feels different to me (perhaps because the drs have told me that they can't give me anything for them, and won't refer me back to neurology as I already have a diagnosis).
I think they are worst for people around me when I have one as my face droops quite badly, (and I dribble a lot!), and my arm is totally useless. Fortunately my leg doesn't tend to be as badly affected as it was the first couple of times.
Interested that you have been given tablets though- I will ask my dr about them.
Feel free to PM me if you want to chat more about your migraines-as I understand it these hemiplegic migraines don't affect everyone in the same way, but I'm happy to share my experiences of them.
